Enforcement Training and Licensing
The BCI provides training for ND law enforcement officers and administrative support services to the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board. The POST Board enforces minimum standards for the issuance and maintenance of peace officer licenses, including continuing education and weapons qualification requirements. The Attorney General appoints the members of the POST Board, who represent all facets of law enforcement, as well as city and county governments. However, the POST Board is a separate state entity not under the authority of the Office of Attorney General (see: N.D.C.C. Chapter 12-63).
